A wallet made of this material will easily serve you for 30, 50, and even more years. If you gravitate to elegant models, your choice is top-grain leather. It is thinner and, arguably, it features a more attractive appearance but it is less durable. You may also come across split and bonded leathers but those are not suitable for pocket-carried bi-folds.
Along with a wallet itself, its chain may be made of leather as well (although, in this case, it is fair to call it a cord).
